Opening a Bank Account in Turkey: Ziraat Bank Daily Transfer Limits Explained
Legit Law · 28 October 2026 · 3 min read

Updated: October 2026
If you are planning to open a bank account in Turkey, understanding daily transaction limits is an important part of preparing for your banking needs. Opening an account is only the first step: you should also check whether your account allows you to make the domestic payments, international transfers and currency exchanges you expect to need.
At LegitLaw, we assist foreign clients with bank account opening in Turkey and help them prepare for banking procedures in Istanbul.
Why Do Daily Banking Limits Matter?
A sufficient account balance does not necessarily mean you can transfer the entire amount through mobile or internet banking in one day.
Different transaction categories can have separate limits. For example, transferring money between your own accounts, sending Turkish lira to another bank and making an international SWIFT transfer may each be subject to a different daily limit.
This is particularly relevant when arranging a property payment, transferring funds abroad or exchanging a substantial amount of foreign currency.
Ziraat Bank Daily Transaction Limits
The following examples are daily limits displayed in a Ziraat Bank customer's Internet/Mobile Banking settings.
Although this article was updated in October 2026, the supporting screenshots are dated October 2025. The amounts below have not been independently confirmed as the bank's current October 2026 limits. Limits may change, and customers should check the amounts applicable to their own accounts before making a transaction.
* Transfers between the customer's own Ziraat Bank accounts: TRY 5,000,000 * Transfer to another account, labelled "Money Transfer to Another Account": TRY 2,000,000 * EFT to an account: TRY 500,000 * International transfer, labelled "Prepare SWIFT": USD 25,000 * Foreign exchange transactions, labelled "FX Operations": USD 250,000 * Foreign currency sales, labelled "FX Sell Operations": USD 250,000 * Payment to another bank's credit card: TRY 250,000 * EFT to a credit card: TRY 250,000 * EFT to a Northern Cyprus account: TRY 100,000 * EFT to a Northern Cyprus credit card: TRY 30,000 * Import transactions, labelled "Open and Transfer Import File": USD 49,999 * Western Union money transfers: USD 7,750
These figures relate to the displayed digital banking transaction categories. They should not be interpreted as ATM withdrawal limits, incoming transfer limits or guaranteed limits for transactions carried out at a branch.
Can You Increase Your Ziraat Bank Transfer Limit?
Ziraat Bank's published guidance explains that customers can reduce daily transaction limits through Internet Banking and request increases through customer services within the bank's permitted limits. Requests exceeding those limits should be directed to the branch. Approval should be confirmed before arranging the payment. (ziraatbank.com.tr)
If you have a payment deadline, check your available limit in advance. Do not assume that a limit increase will be approved immediately.
Planning a Property Payment or International Transfer
Before transferring a substantial amount, confirm:
* The transaction category that applies to your payment. * Your current daily limit and remaining available allowance. * Whether the payment can be completed digitally or requires branch assistance. * Any documents the bank requires for the intended transaction. * The applicable fees, processing arrangements and recipient details.
For example, a USD 25,000 limit displayed under "Prepare SWIFT" should not be interpreted as a restriction on every type of foreign currency transaction. The relevant transaction category and processing channel need to be checked separately.
